Converting a 1080i MOV file to 720p

How do I convert a 1080i file to 720p file?

I would deinterlace it in Sony Vegas, but you can probably do it all sorts of ways.  VirtualDub might be able to do that, etc.  Check out www.videohelp.com for more info on video conversions and editing, etc.

Thanks for that link. I found out how to cut a clip from a DVD in a simple manner ;D
I'm still looking for a nice, simple way to convert from 1080 as well. The "paid for" stuff that I have doesn't have quite the right sizes on offer for my Archos player (won't play 1080 as it can't fit it on the screen - max 800x480) so the results get a bit distorted in one direction or the other
I really must study this subject in greater depth.

I'm pretty sure that ivideo can deinterlace and reduce size .. only I guess but I'm almost certain
