I received a PM from Milo:

Hi guys,
I had earlier contacted Martin about this. I have not been able to connect with Mousebits for over a week now. I keep getting the message that the connect time has timed out. I\'ve tried using Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers and had the same result.
Any idea what\'s going on?
thanks
Paul Hapy (milo)

I know some have had this site running slow lately, but Paul hasn`t been able to get onto either www.mousebits.com or www.dc-torrents.com for a week. Any network savvy people have any help? SirLamer is looking into it.

Thanks

I had this problem last week, and I finally had to change my router to get it to work. Tell him to try plugging the modem (DSL or Cable) directly into the computer and see if that works. I started a thread on this issue in the technical assistance forum.

he can try shutting down his cable modem, router, and computer for a few minutes, restarting the cable modem, then the router, then the computer (in that order) and then doing the whole ipconfig release/renew deal... that usually works for me...

oh, and clear his network cache

Milo here,
Thanks for the replies everyone, especially Martin. I ended up bypassing my router. I tried to update my firmware for my D Link router, but Windows could not find a file to open the update. Don\'t know if I need a new router or not in this case. It\'s only 5 years old. I did notice that it had a reset button on the back. I wonder if that would have done anything. Anyone know?
thanks again

I\'ve had nothing but problems with D-Link and Netgear routers. I\'m happy with my Linksys, but don\'t tell that to Nelson!

For almost 2 years I never had a problem w/ my Belkin router. Then one day, it just started refusing to connect to most (but oddly enough, not all) websites, especially when my torrent program was running. I ended up having to reset the router (it only took a minute) and it worked fine, anywhere from 4 hours to almost 2 days. I kept having to do this for a few months so I updated the firmware and it still occured. I finally did a search on the problem and it was fairly common. It turned out that if you kept the router flat and it was in a hot, poorly ventilated area, similar problems would occur. So, I moved the router so that half of the bottom cooling holes were exposed to circulating air and haven\'t had the problem for a few months. Still not quite certain why it didn\'t pop up for almost 2 years though.

I had been very happy with my Linksys router until it started acting up. I figured I\'d try another brand, and this Netgear router is working flawlessly right now. (Fingers crossed :) )

I wonder why the mousebits server seemed to show connection problems with a few people\'s routers starting last week. Was there some kind of change in the way the main server was configured or routed? When my router was \"bad\" I could literally get to every other site that I tried except mousebits. That is really odd.
