Help! Disaster! Mousebits won't load!

Help! Last fall I had a problem where Mousebits wouldn't load, and my torrents stopped. I could access the site only if:

1. I used dial-up
2. Or logged in from work or another location
3. or used an anonymous proxy server.

All other times I got a server timed out error. I'm having this problem again. Last time it fixed itself after a month. Just one day it worked again. While I'm assuming this will happen again, I'm tired of it and want to fix it. Time Warner Cable is at a loss and can't figure out why it's happening.

All other sites work normally. But I want my MOUSEBITS!

Any ideas on what to do? Or what to tell Time Warner tech support?

I suspect a problem with your broadband (cable) connection.
Maybe a problem where your line meets others to make the connection.
I haven't noticed any problems here (and I'm on most days).
Obviously it's not your ISP banning P2P sites then (some do) but maybe they use some lines that do?
Lines do get shunted around - that's the whole purpose of the web, of course. Maybe your ISP just has a bad or poor line somewhere in the network when it tries to get through to Mousebits. They re-route every so often so that could explain why it's OK some times and not others?
I have had problems here in the UK when I could access some sites and not others although dial-up worked fine (different route) and that was more or less what they told me (though whether I believed it or not is quite another matter).
The line from work would use a different route as would a proxy.
If they get enough complaints they sort it out although they say that it's almost impossible to find which bit is down.
It's a bit like traveling on a train. Most lines clear but if you happen to get on one with a broken rail...........
Not much you can do as the problem is with the cable lines.
Just my guess, of course.

Everybody want their MOUSEBITS  ;D

If you are able to open a dos window (assuming you are using Windows), it might be useful to enter:
tracert www.mousebits.com
and post the result in a PM

Thanks for the suggestions - I performed a traceroute and here's the results...

Strange. You are only missing the final hop. It is defenately not an ISP issue. You do reach the front port of our provider.

Although I am an Admin, I don't have access to the server itself. Only SirLamer has that. Maybe you can send him a PM and ask if there is an ip-block in which your address falls.

In the meantime, you could find a proxy server to use. That would give you a different IP, just like your dial in does. Google around and you will find lists of proxies to use.

Good luck!

Thanks dajatje.
I did say I wasn't convinced by what my ISP had told me ;D
I got zoraster.tcmachines.com as my final result.
I'll note your suggestion for next time mine does it (Orange tends to get blacklisted for Spam every now and again). That's probably why I have occasional problems with some sites.

if nameservice res is the problem you could try open dns

https://www.opendns.com/start/

Problem solved! Although I don't know why it happened in the first place...

My IP was blocked by totalchoicenetworks. Something like 68 connection requests on port 80 and it looked like a ddos attack so they blocked me. I have NO IDEA what that even means but at least they unblocked me.

I want to thank everyone who helped out with suggestions.
