Very true. I usually use DVD Audio Ripper by iSkysoft, because it's quick and easy to use. But most video and audio editing programs can extract the audio.
I cheat. I have an early (free) version of MusicMatch Jukebox which records directly from the sound card.
I just play the video (from HDD or input or disc drive/DVD/CD) on the PC and record the sounds I want. That way I can, say, play a DVD and just record part of it rather than having to have the entire thing on my PC and then extract the bit I want.
Works with any sounds that the PC soundcard makes.
I like things simple
Downside is that it won't work with any IE over 6.
I can live with that as I use Firefox. ;D
