Not enough storage space? Please help!

Please help! It is my first time downloading a torrent. I am using uTorrent 3.0. I think I did everything right, as it now says I am seeding. But I can't play it. When I go to the C: drive to open it, it says "Unable to load WDW Resort TV Audio May 2011.rar":Not enough storage space is available to process this command. ! Can I do anything to play this? Thanks for anything you can tell me!

You need a program like WinRAR or 7Zip to uncompress first.

Also, I'm not sure on this one in particular, but if you use Windows, a FAT32 file system doesn't allow for file sizes greater than 4 gigs.  You'll need a drive formatted as NTFS, which is a bigger deal than it sounds.  That will probably be best solved by purchasing a new drive.  Do the whole WinRAR/7Zip thing first, then check back in.

Out of curiosity, did you get the torrent from here?
I can't find one with that title here at all  ??? and a search of the forums draws a blank for that title as well.
I can find WDW Resort TV - Channel 20 Your Disney Resort - Audio - by Nelsonj3.torrent but that's not a rar file, just a plain mp3.
If it wasn't from here, it may be a bogus file  maybe containing a virus or something (just because it says rar doesn't mean it really is) that can happen on some sites (not here though) - especially with P2P stuff.
What size is it?
I'd doubt that an audio file would be in excess of 4Gb.
If you did get it from here, could you copy the link and post it and I'll have a look and see if I can find what's wrong (please do NOT post a link if it wasn't from here).
If it was from here, it's not here now so maybe it didn't complete the download so it can't open. That shouldn't have given you that message though..
I'd be careful of this one and check before you attempt to use winrar or 7zip to open it though.

Ah, forgot that the actual name of the torrent doesn't show in a search - only the title that the uploader gives it :-[
Only just over 110mb so won't be a FAT issue.
I've just downloaded it and unzipped it (with winrar) and the files are fine and they play OK.
Tinkerbella, the problem is at your end with either the file you downloaded being corrupt in some way or a problem with your PC.
As suggested, make sure you have a program that will unzip rar files, make sure the torrent downloaded fully and make sure you have enough free space on your HDD. You could try opening another rar file from somewhere and see if you get the same result in case the unzipping program has gone dud. Failing that, delete the torrent and try again.
Everything is fine here  ;)
As a final thought, what size is the file you are trying to open (should be 108mb) and what OS are you using (XP, Vista, Windows7 etc).
If all else fails, reboot the PC and try it again (that message can come up if the registry or pagefile has problems).

Yes, could be RAM especially if doing some memory-intensive jobs at the same time.
I used to get the message a lot on my old WinMe machine when working with large jpg files (keeping too many "undos" in memory.
Many people just don't realize how much memory can be taken out of use by other programs (a reboot fixes it of course).

I remember a co-worker freaking out at her laptop because photoshop was refusing to open files because of not enough memory. She didn't realize that HDD space and RAM were two different things.

Yeah, and so many things seem to "forget" to release the RAM after you close them off  if you don't reboot  :(
Don't forget the pagefile if you're doing a lot as well - especially if there's not much HDD space left.
Microsoft warnings are rarely what they seem anyway. I had times when I couldn't save a tiny file of a few Kb on the old PC with several hundred Gbs of HDD. WinMe had a bug in which updates filled up the folder to max size and stopped the restore from working. You wondered where several Gigs of HDD space had gone!
Wonderful things computers.  :D

There are tools/add ons that they also make to give you the option to manually free up ram, but if you don't know what you're doing you can cause problems as well.

On the topic of drive space, I hate DVD/BluRay authoring programs that don't tell you they write an image to the drive first. Then one day you go "why on earth do I only have 10% of my freespace left?". :D

Yes, had a program use up all the HDD like that (no mention anywhere of temporary files being cached).
Programs to free Ram are generally useless. Far easier to buy a new RAM stick and plug it in otherwise learn what you are doing and fix it yourself (my preferred method)  ;D
I'll be interested in hearing what the problem was here though. I hope Tinkerbella reports back.

Oh the ones I am talking about are basically task manager but with a better layout, those "speed up your PC" things are totally useless though.

Have to agree with Pixlated's choice, have been using process explorer over Task manager for years,  far better programme.

And as for RAM optimization, a good system tries to use all of the "fast ram" so the concept of free ram is slightly confusing.
